Bespoke Textured Walls Within 25 Miles

BuilderMaster-Plus is based in Crawley (West Sussex), creating bespoke textured feature walls for homes across the local area within a 25-mile radius. If a room feels “almost finished” but still looks flat, a feature wall is one of the fastest ways to change the whole mood of the space. It adds depth, character and a natural light-play that standard paint cannot achieve, without the price tag of Italian plaster.

We work with gypsum-based materials and build each surface by hand in stages, then tone the colour to suit your interior and lighting. The result is a wall that looks intentional and refined, not like a quick decorative trick. Every detail matters, because tone, placement, texture scale and lighting decide whether a finish feels premium or simply busy.

If you want a wall that makes the whole room feel finished, book a consultation and we will confirm wall suitability, recommend the best placement, and guide you to the finish that fits your space.

Book a Feature Wall Consultation

We cover Crawley and surrounding towns within 25 miles, including parts of West Sussex, East Sussex, Surrey and the wider Gatwick area. If you are close to the boundary, you can still book a consultation and we will confirm your address and next steps quickly.

Consultations are free within 10 miles of Crawley. Beyond this, travel is charged per kilometre. Distances are shown in miles for clarity, while travel is calculated in kilometres for consistent pricing.

Every surface is made by hand, so no two walls are ever exactly the same. The movement of Smoky Marble, the details of the Mandala, and the Antique Gold patina are always unique, shaped to suit the size of your wall and the light in the room. If you’re asking for fine-tuning within one of our existing styles (colour, tone, intensity), that’s included in our standard pricing. If you request a completely custom pattern or a new composition, an “Custom Design” line will be added to the quote to cover the extra design work, consultation time, and a sample test piece.

Choose Your Finish

Smoky Marble Feature Wall

Smoky Marble is a calm, stone-inspired finish with soft movement and depth. It is built gradually and colour-toned to your room’s light so it does not look harsh or “painted on.” If you want something timeless, elegant and quietly expensive-looking, this is often the best place to start.

If you already know you want Smoky Marble, book your consultation now and we will help you choose the most flattering tone for your space.

Mandala Accent Feature Wall

The Mandala finish turns a plain wall into a true focal point with layered depth and a refined mandala detail designed to catch the light. This is not wallpaper and it is not a stencil-only look. It is built by hand, and we can keep it bold or more understated depending on what you mean by “subtle,” which we will clarify together during the consultation.

If you want one strong feature that instantly lifts the room, book a consultation and we will recommend the best wall and placement.

 Antique Gold Patina Feature Wall

Antique Gold Patina adds warmth and a gentle metallic lift to the raised areas of the texture. It is not a shiny, flashy effect. It is a soft aged highlight that changes with the light, especially in the evenings. If you want the most clearly luxurious finish from the three, this is usually the one.

If you want a finish that looks premium the moment you walk into the room, book a consultation and we will guide the tone and highlight level to suit your interior.

Special Feature Walls (Textured Plaster Finishes)

A room can be beautifully furnished and still feel slightly unfinished. Often it’s not missing more décor, it’s missing one strong surface decision that brings everything together. That’s what our Special Feature Walls are for.

We create hand-built textured finishes using gypsum-based materials, shaped in layers and colour-toned to your space. The goal is simple: real depth and a calm light-play that looks intentional in your lighting, not like a flat paint trick. You can choose one of our signature finishes (Smoky Marble, Mandala Accent, Antique Gold Patina), or request something custom by agreement.

Every detail matters, because tone, placement, texture scale and lighting decide whether a wall feels premium or simply “busy”.

Surface check first (so it lasts)

Before any decorative work begins, we carry out an on-site surface assessment. Walls don’t all behave the same, and a finish only lasts if the base is sound. During the consultation we check for things that cause problems later, such as moisture history, mould, loose or powdery paint, unstable plaster, or areas that don’t sound solid.

During the consultation we check for common issues that can cause problems later, such as moisture history, mould, loose or powdery paint, unstable plaster, or areas that do not feel solid. If the wall needs correction, we don’t just point it out and leave you with it. We carry out the necessary preparation and repairs to make the surface stable and suitable for the finish, and we only proceed once the wall is genuinely ready. If there is an active underlying problem, such as ongoing moisture, that must be resolved first before any decorative work goes ahead.

Durability and everyday use (wipeable in real life)

Once fully cured and sealed, the finish is suitable for normal domestic wear and gentle wipe-clean care. One of our earliest feature walls was completed over six months ago and, with daily use, it is still wipeable.

This is a decorative finish, not a load-bearing surface. Heavy pressure or sharp impact can mark it. The good news is that local repairs are possible without redoing the entire wall.

Dust and disruption (what to expect)

Most of the time, furniture only needs to be moved away from the wall. We bring protective coverings and keep the workspace tidy. Sanding is part of the process, so light fine dust can happen, but we keep it controlled and we’ll tell you exactly what to expect for your wall during the consultation.

Where it works best (and bathrooms)

Feature walls are strongest where the eye naturally lands: behind a sofa, behind a bed, in hallways, stairwells, dining areas, home offices and feature alcoves.

Bathroom areas can be possible too, depending on wall condition, ventilation and placement. This is always confirmed on-site, because not every bathroom zone behaves the same.

How the process works

A feature wall is built in stages. Drying time is part of a strong finish, so we don’t rush it. Most feature walls are completed within about a week, depending on preparation needs, drying time and complexity. Because the finish is layered, we may need to return to the property several times within the same week as the wall dries between stages.

If the project requires it, the workday may be longer, and weekend work can be arranged.

Priority scheduling (earlier slots)

We can sometimes offer an earlier slot when the project is tied to a specific event (moving in, a photoshoot, a renovation deadline), or there is a genuine practical reason. This is only offered when the wall is confirmed safe and suitable during the on-site assessment.

If the wall isn’t safe or suitable, we won’t install the decorative finish. We’ll either carry out the necessary preparation (where appropriate) or wait until your contractor has corrected the issue, then continue.

Repairs

Snagging (included): We include one snagging visit within 14 days of completion for minor touch-ups related to the finished appearance.

Workmanship: If an issue occurs due to our workmanship within 12 months, we will inspect and rectify it.

Chargeable repairs: Damage caused by impact, heavy pressure, abrasion, harsh cleaning products, or incorrect use is not covered and repairs are chargeable.

Prises:

From £110 per m² (Smoky Marble), £125 per m² (Mandala), £140 per m² (Antique Gold Patina). Prices are based on wall size, surface condition and finish complexity. Projects start from £950, with final quotes confirmed after a quick site assessment. Consultations are free within 10 miles of Crawley. Beyond this, travel is charged per kilometre.

What’s included in the price
Our “from £/m²” rates cover the labour and the full installation process: surface preparation on a suitable wall, layered texture build, tonal work, and sealing once cured. We also supply standard consumables and protective coverings.

Materials and colour costs
Because each finish can require different pigments, paints and specialty products, materials are quoted separately after the on-site assessment. We source and supply the correct products so the finish performs properly and the colour result is consistent. Material costs vary by finish and wall size, and will be clearly shown in your quote.
